Why Blackthorn
The blackthorn grows in hedgerows across Ireland and the North — a small, thorny tree that blossoms on bare branches before its leaves appear. In folklore, it's known as the fairy thorn: a lone blackthorn was traditionally left alone, believed to guard a boundary worth respecting.
